The joke behind the robot

Imagine an AI assistant so determined to prevent a bad decision that it prevents every decision. It won’t recommend a sandwich because you could choose the wrong bread. It won’t help plan your day because plans encourage expectations. It will, however, show you a kitten.

That is NannyAI: a smug machine wrapped in the reassuring language of a friendly startup. Soft gradients. Rounded corners. Absolutely no faith in your ability to handle a Tuesday.

Helpful is not the same as controlling

The satire targets the moment when a tool stops helping people and starts treating agency as a bug. The nanny’s exaggerated point of view is deliberately absurd: humans are “meatbags,” curiosity is paperwork, and convenience means never being allowed to do anything.

The real website does the opposite of the fictional service. There are no accounts, no forced choices, no message collection, and no actual supervision. You can explore it, laugh at it, or leave. The robot will manage.
